I started to make these masks for myself and my family, and was asked to make many more! I'm using the fabric I can get without leaving my home much or entering a store. Colors will be updated as they are available.
I love the way these fit - very comfortable and breathable.
When she's not nurturing the creativity of our youth, Theresa teaches adult Nia classes at Oak Cliff Aikikai, a martial arts dojo, and at Sync Yoga & Wellbeing. Both locations are in Dallas, Texas. It's a wonderful balance of things she loves to do in life.
1) What's your favorite way to move your body these days, and why?
I stumbled upon Nia some 15 years ago and haven't turned back since. In the beginning, it was simply the sheer joy of moving IN my body that attracted me to Nia. This grew into greater body acceptance, body awareness, increased movement skill and mobility; all the while never losing that initial sense of JOYful movement.
2) Tell us about one of your superpowers…..
Whenever I teach, whether "littles" or full-grown, what makes me happiest is when others discover JOY within themselves. I hope that in some small way, I played a part in that self-discovery.
3) Who inspires you by the way they move?
As an art educator, I also love sharing my love of music and movement with my students. "Dance breaks" are the norm in art class. My students' raw and organic moves always inspire me!

Wendy is a conscious movement facilitator with a life long love of dance! Her offerings include Nia and conscious freestyle dance. Rhythmwood is an eco-friendly dance studio and homestead which was born out of a decision to move back to the land 27 years ago. She welcomes people to stay with them for their summer retreats which feature dancing, eating fresh food and building deep connections. Her newest program is called Rhythmwood Soul Journey: Dance of the Feminine Spirit. This body of work is an invitation for women to move deeper inward, to connect with authentic embodiment as a source of presence and power in their life.
1) What is your favorite way to move your body these days, and why?
I love to move my body freely and consciously in dance. I love being invited to dance in my own way, with my own expression of what I am experiencing in the moment. The dance floor becomes the place where I can really drop into my body, and the dance becomes a moving meditation where I can practice present moment awareness.
2) Tell us about one of your superpowers…..
I have always been deeply connected to music, growing up in a home where my father was a jazz musician. As a teenager I was an avid collector of vinyl, then eventually CD's. My living room is filled with albums! One of my superpowers is my ability to identify songs and artists, and create wickedly awesome playlists for dancing!
3) Who inspires you by the way they move?
I am inspired by Michael Molin-Skelton of Spirit Weaves. I first met Michael in the Soul Motion Leadership Training. It is a true gift to be in his presence. His dance is filled with a deep sense of the sacred. He moves with soulful grace and beauty. The long flowing fabrics that he wears to dance accentuate his movement with swish and swirl. Pause and flow. It is a real delight to witness Michael on the dance floor!

1) What is your favorite way to move your body these days, and why? I am loving ecstatic dance here in Carrboro-- free, open, creative dance in community. I love the freedom of being hoopless! And the energy that comes from dancing with others.
2) Tell us about one of your superpowers….. I am naturally curious and so I really, truly enjoy meeting new people and finding out about their lives. It was a quality that served me well when I was working as an investigator in (believe it or not) death-penalty appeals cases.
3) Who inspires you by the way they move? I am a huge fan of the hip-hop dance icon Marquese Scott, aka Nonstop--phenomenal pop-n-locker. Hoopwise, I am loving Dizzy Dynamic out of Chicago---a magical mover!
"Dancer, adventurer, and ardentdefender of the free spirit, Isadora Duncan is one of the most enduring influences on contemporary culture and can be credited with inventing what came to be known as Modern Dance. With free-flowing costumes, bare feet, and loose hair, she took to the stage inspired by the ancient Greeks, the music of classical composers, the wind and the sea. Isadora elevated the dance to a high place among the arts, returning the discipline to its roots as a sacred art. Duncan shed the restrictive corsets of the Victorian era and broke away from the vocabulary of the ballet. Stepping out of the dance studio with a vision of the dance of the future, Isadora embraced artists, philosophers, and writers as her teachers and guides.
According to Isadora, the development of her dance was a natural phenomenon – not an invention, but a rediscovery of the classical principles of beauty, motion, and form. Her dances were born of the impulse to embrace life’s bittersweet challenges, meeting destiny and fate head-on in her own whirlwind journey, filled with both tragedy and ecstasy. She was determined to “dance a different dance,” telling her own life story through abstract, universal expressions of the human condition.
Shocking some audience members and inspiring others, Isadora posed a challenge to the prevailing orthodoxies of her time.Isadora was a champion in the struggle for women‘s rights. Many saw a glorious vision for the future in Isadora’s choreography. Her influence upon the development of progressive ideas and culture from her time to our own has yet to be measured. She has inspired artists, thinkers, and idealists everywhere".
Kelly Atkins, BS in Health and Wellness, created Kai in 2013 after being in the dance and mind-body movement field for over 30 years. She blended her background of traditional fitness, yoga, dance and wellness coaching with what she felt would support her community by observing them through the years. Kai is now 3 years old and trademarked, there are over 60 graduates of the training program (for teachers or personal development) called "Earth Immersion" which is available as an at home online training, as well as an on site training offered bi-annually in Sarasota Florida. Kai blends Authentic Movement with the elements, music, brain awareness, archetypes (positive psychology), and embodied anatomy.
1) What is your favorite way to move your body these days, and why? My all time favorite is Kai. Kai (sounds like "fly") is a movement practice I created 3 years ago that blends 21 simple movements designed to stimulate the legs, feet, core and arms sequentially throughout the body with Authentic Movement and the elements of nature. In every class we move and align with the elements of nature to "feng shui" our insides and our minds into a beautiful space that feels amazing. I also love to practice Authentic Movement on it's own. It gives me time and space to deeply connect within and find the sources of my movements to explore. From here I can create choreography that has meaning and texture. Since it's done with a witness it also gives the experience a very profound space to explore love in self, being seen, and clearing any self limiting thoughts that I may harbor around this. Sometimes I video myself or practice Authentic Movement through technology with friends abroad.
2) Tell us about your superpowers….. Two of my super powers are creativity and vision. I have been able to look at any situation and see the patterns and opportunities that are opening and create beauty from them. In dance, I feel it as a subtle "yes" deep inside me that I am moving from something meaningful. It's really quite blissful as it comes together. I love to share this with others and help them find that "inner radar" and bliss connection inside of them as well. I imagine a world where everyone has access to this inner radar and we all make empowered choices creating together.
3) Who inspires you by the way they move? I enjoy watching animals and things I see in nature. I like to move like a thunderstorm, slash with lightening or be a big curvy oak tree in a forest. There is so much in nature to be inspired by, from the clouds ascending to a rainbow or the stillness of a lizard watching me watch him. Often when I dance barefoot in my backyard, at first I feel self conscious or "stuck", and then I feel I am not alone .......I begin to sense the breeze on my cheek and the whisper of the wind through the leaves and suddenly there are birds making sounds along with other creatures and so much to blend or contrast with. My movements harmonize with the moment and I dissolve into sensations that turn off my mind. I always end feeling refreshed even if I've been outside only 5 minutes. Nature is amazing in it's ability to change our inner states if we let it in.

1) What is your favorite way to move your body these days, and why? My favorite way to move is my home practice which blends: yoga, dance, martial arts, body weight training and sounding. I feel free and energized by the variety and freedom of movement. Adding the elements of circular breath and sounding opens up places inside that quickly bring me into a deep state of presence with all aspects of myself - shadow/light and fear/freedom. It's a delicious time to breath, move, feel and heal.
2) Tell us about one of your superpowers….. My super power is helping women follow their inner guidance to uncover and activate their soul purpose. Women's potential and empowerment has always fascinated me. It is truly a gift to watch a woman's passion and power bloom.
3) Who inspires you by the way they move? Children inspire me, professional athletes & performers... but who inspires me most are people in everyday life that are listening to the rhythm inside their soul and moving in alignment with who they are, how moving feels, enjoying the expression and inspiration that comes from moving from the inside out like no one is watching.
